Wave Picking is a warehouse order fulfilment strategy where groups of orders are released in waves based on specific criteria such as shipping time, carrier, zone, or order priority. This approach enables efficient task planning, optimized picker movement, and better coordination with downstream processes like packing and shipping.
Users scan the Wave ID, prompting the system to retrieve the corresponding picking tasks and direct them to the assigned picking locations. They then scan the location and item number to validate that they are picking the correct items from the correct locations. Next, users confirm the pick quantity based on the system-assigned total quantity. Finally, users perform outbound sorting to segregate the picked items into staging locations based on their respective orders.
